The Sentinel

Sensitive hikers familiar with Spruce Woods Provincial Park and the trail it offers out to the Spirit Sands may also be aware of The Sentinel. As you achieve the crest of the first hill of the hike, to the right stands a tall healthy majestic spruce tree – The Sentinel. Truly evergreen, The Sentinel  watches over seekers who pass by. I mentally acknowledge it after all these years of hiking there, rarely do I leave an offering as I once did. The Sentinel is obvious to those who look because, about halfway up, it splits in two, growing two crowns as you can see in the picture. Things splitting in two is a frequent shamanic vision. So as you pass, make your peace with The Sentinel and the rest of your journey will be a pushover.
